Troop 302 – November & December Update
Dear Troop Families,
We’re entering a busy and exciting season for our Scouts! Please review the important updates below and let us know where your Scout can participate.
🎟️ Trade-o-ree Fundraiser – November 14–15
Location: St. Lawrence Parish Center
- Friday, Nov. 14: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Saturday, Nov. 15: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Set-up Help Needed: Starting at 3:30 PM Friday, Scouts can assist traders with moving in patches and memorabilia.
Ways to Participate:
- Concessions Crew: We need Scouts and parents to help run the concession stand throughout the event.
- Baked Goods & Sale Items: Donations of baked goods or small items to sell are welcome.
- Profit Sharing: A portion of the concession profits will be credited to the Scout accounts of those who help.
- Collections Merit Badge: Offered Friday at 12:00 PM—Scouts can earn this badge by engaging with collectors and learning about memorabilia.
Bonus: One Scout is selling Christmas wreaths to help fund his trip to the National Scout Jamboree. Please support if you can!
🏕️ Pilgrim-Themed Camporee – November 21–23
This multi-troop camporee will feature themed activities and cold-weather camping practice.
- Cost: $15 per Scout (covers food)
- Troop covers the $20 registration fee
- RSVP Deadline: Tuesday, November 11
Please confirm your Scout’s attendance by this date. No last-minute cancellations, as we need accurate headcounts for food and logistics.
🎉 Thanksgiving Day Parade – Float Opportunity!
Our troop has a spot in the Thanksgiving Day Parade, and we may have the chance to include a float!
Please let us know ASAP if your Scout can participate. This is a great way to represent Scouting in the community and have some fun!
❄️ Cold-Weather Campout – December 12–14
This outing will focus on outdoor cooking and winter camping skills.
- Scouts will explore different cooking methods and prepare meals outdoors.
- This campout supports First Class rank advancement and reinforces cold-weather preparedness.
🔦 Youth Leadership & Meeting Planning
Evan Hicks and the Patrol Leaders’ Council have developed a meeting plan to help Scouts prepare for upcoming trips.
Meeting Focus:
- Packing essentials (extra socks, flashlights, etc.)
- Skill-building for outdoor success
- Scout-led planning and leadership development
Encourage your Scout to attend meetings regularly—they’re designed to build confidence and readiness for outings.
